Dr Danielle Florida

Dr Florida completed undergraduate medical training in 1989. Dr Florida was a General Practitioner at Round Corner Dural with her father Dr Robert Florida for 12 years. During this time she developed a passionate interest in mental health and completed a Masters in Psychological Medicine.


Dr Florida commenced Psychiatric training in 2004, initially at Cumberland Hospital, then in Canberra, New York, and New Zealand. On returning to Australia Dr Florida completed psychiatric training in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, subspecialising in Addictions. She undertook further training in Cognitive Behavioural therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and the Conversational Model. In 2012 Dr Florida graduated as a psychiatrist and worked at Concord Drug Health. During this time she focussed on detoxification, stabilisation, and rehabilitation for patients with both addiction and mental health problems. Dr Florida is also a registered Opiate treatment Program Prescriber and has a keen interest in pain management. Dr Florida has worked for the last 5 years in private practice at The Hill Clinic. Dr Florida designed and ran the Phoenix Addictions Outpatient Group Program. It incorporated the more recent psychological models for recovery, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Dr Florida has maintained an ardent commitment to all aspects of general psychiatry, including anxiety, depression, psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, personality disorder and ADHD.
