Do I need a referral to see a psychiatrist?
In order to receive Medicare rebate it is necessary to obtain a referral from a medical practitioner to see a psychiatrist. Specialist referrals are valid for 3 months and General Practitioner referrals for 12 months.
Between the hours of 9 and 5 on a Monday to Friday you can ring 0410 085 553 and you should be able to speak to one of our two receptionists. You can email all requests to email@example.com and reception staff will deal directly with your requests or Dr Florida’s Personal Assistant Ann-Marie, will liaise with you to address your concerns.
Emails are not reviewed after hours so please don't rely on this method in an emergency. Please refer to "What do I do in an emergency?" emergency below.
Is there a cancellation fee?
Appointments are confirmed one business day prior, by SMS. If you fail to notify within 24 hours there will be a cancellation fee of $100 charged.
Unfortunately if you fail to attend without notifying us you will be charged the full consultation fee, as we will have been holding that appointment time especially for you.
What are the fees to see a psychologist or psychiatrist?
Gladstone Practice is a private practice and we do not bulk bill, fees vary, depending on the individual therapist, the length of the session and whether you are seeing a psychiatrist or psychologist. When you ring for an appointment our staff will be able to inform you of your therapist's fees. Payment on the day of consultation in cash, eftpos or credit card (Mastercard or Visa) is required. Rates are on a sliding scale in line with current AMA rates. Once paid, we can issue you with a receipt and you can submit it to Medicare for a refund. Alternatively we can lodge the claim online with Medicare and you will be sent a cheque or refund can be deposited into your bank account within two days, if your bank account details are registered with Medicare.
What do I do in an emergency?
Gladstone Practice is not an emergency service. If you need help outside the hours of 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday please consider the following below depending on your emergency:
What if I need services outside my appointment time?
Please try and ensure you ask the doctors for all scripts during your appointment time. From 2018 there will be a non-rebatable $10 fee for regular scripts, and $20 fee for Authority scripts.
If you need paperwork completed by either your Psychiatrist or Psychologist outside appointment time, from 2018 there will be a non-rebatable fee charged, proportionate to the time it takes to complete it.
As your treating team we are wanting to do the best for you we can and need to model our work life balance to maintain our own mental health. Please check scripts needed before your appointment and schedule an appointment if you have forms etc that need to be completed.
